SURVEY SAYS - Something different for the Fall League?

December 14, 2005 03:17 PM

Memo

To:        LATA Team Captains and players

From:    LATA

Date:     December 14, 2005

Re:        Fall Leagues – do you want something different

In an effort to continue improving the quality and enjoyment of league tennis, the  LATA Board members have been asked to consider using different formats for the Fall Tennis season only.  Any change would not affect any other season.  We do not know when, or if, any change will take place.  What we would like is to hear from you, the players.  Please give us your opinion as to whether you would be in favor of a change and what you think of the following suggested format.

It has been suggested that a 'team tennis' sytle format be used as an alternative to our current fall tennis format.  You may have seen this format used on television recently.  A team would be made up of both men and women.  Like the current league, a match would involve 5 courts and 8 players, including 2 singles matches and 3 doubles matches; the difference would be that a match would consist of a women's singles match, a men's singles match, a women's doubles match, a men's doubles match and a mixed doubles match.

We're asking team captains to pass this Memo to their players.  While you may certainly discuss this change with your league coordinator or members of the LATA Board, in order to keep accurate record of people's comments we are asking that everyone email (LATAoffice@alltel.net), or call (951-0980) or fax (951-3556) the LATA office and let us know what you think of this idea.

Your opinion is important to us, and we want input from our member players.  Please let us know what you think.

Thank you in advance for your comments, and please have a safe and happy holiday season.
