JTL/Junior Tennis League of the Midlands Celebrates their 35th Year!

“The Game of a Lifetime” begins with JTL!

JTL or Junior Tennis League, a non-profit organization, is celebrating their 35th year fostering and supporting a very specific instructional and team tennis league for youth in the Midlands, Camden and Newberry!  In 1974, several individuals, themselves tennis enthusiasts, recognized the need for an organized Junior Tennis Program in the Midlands, much like little league baseball.  With financial support from a local corporation, the groundwork was prepared for a public registration of young people in the spring of 1975.  The original founding group expanded to become the JTL Board of Directors, with the creation of necessary committees to prepare a budget, arrange for club and public use of courts and resolve many other functional aspects of the program.  JTL has never turned away youth due to lack of funds.  Now in 35th year, JTL has had over 15,000 participants over the past 35 years.  The quality and longevity of the JTL is a wonderful commentary of community involvement with its young people.   JTL has been recognized at the state, southern and national level for its excellence in providing a tennis program serving the youth in the Midlands area.

Registration forms are available at local parks, tennis clubs and on line at  Application deadline is April 25th, 2009.  Children must be 8 years old (by 5-1-2009 to participate).  All skill levels of tennis are welcome (beginner, Intermediate and advanced).
